Feeling French?
Good news for Francophiles: There’s a flurry of events, fetes, and food specials marking France’s national holiday Bastille Day (July 14) around Boston. Mais oui!

Celebrate liberté, égalité, and fraternité at the Beehive’s Bastille Day Party. Hit the patio at 5:30 p.m. for food carts, mimes (no, really), and cocktails, and then head inside for French pop by elodieO and a performance by Grammy award-winning electro-dance band Deep Forest, featuring Thierry Eliez.
Or, put on your party hats and hoof it to Franklin Park Zoo to hobnob with the zoo’s deux Poitou donkeys, Samuel and Balthazar (so cute!). The rare Poitou is the oldest breed of donkey in France. There will be special presentations at the donkey exhibit at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m., and free cake from Montilio’s Bakery.
Friday, Shaun Wolf Wortis brings the 17th annual Bastille Day A-Go-Go to Precinct in Somerville’s Union Square. Get ready for soul and R&B music and some laughs. Special guests — in addition to the usual motley crew — include: T Max, Jordan Valentine, and Jen D’Angora. The action starts at 9 p.m.
For cinema buffs, the annual Boston French Film Fest is in full swing at the Museum of Fine Arts. “Le petit Nicholas,” based on the childrens books by Jean-Jacques Sempe and Ren Goscinny and playing Thursday (July 15) at 5:30 p.m., is just one of 23 flicks screening at the fest through July 28.
