Another Reason Why You Want Hurricane Earl to Slow Down: Cheap Room Rates

Hurricane Earl is striking fear into the hearts of Labor Day vacationers in the Northeast but one hotel is trying to make it fun by offering room rates the price of Earl’s wind speed.

The Back Bay Hotel on Stuart Street in Boston is giving out the room rates to the first people who book from 3pm today to noon tomorrow. So if Earl is cruising at 50mph this afternoon, that will be your room rate price for the night. Same thing goes if the wind is blowing up 75mph and 100mph. You can then extend your room stay for the following night at $175 a night. (Rates are typically around $275 a night.)

The room rate does includes free WiFi but if Earl is as serious as the media is talking about then we wouldn’t rely on an internet connection. Earl was lashing the North Carolina coast yesterday at speeds of 105mph but it’s slowed down since to about 55mph as it makes its way towards Long Island. We say keep your eye on the meteorologist reports just before you book.
